Choose an AI tool based on the job, not the hype

A practical comparison worksheet for trying two tools on the same real task.

Start with a small real task. Use the steps below, inspect the output, and make the result your own.

Pick a job before picking a platform

“Best AI tool” is usually the wrong question. Decide the task first: drafting copy, checking sources, making a graphic or connecting systems.

Use the same test for two candidates

COPY-READY PROMPT
I need an AI tool for [specific task]. My budget is [budget]. I care most about [accuracy / editing / privacy / speed]. Create a simple test I can run in two products using the same input. Give me a scorecard for quality, effort to fix mistakes, price, privacy controls and export options. Do not assume a product feature exists; tell me what I need to confirm in current documentation.

Score what matters

  1. Use the identical source material and instructions in both tools.
  2. Time how long it takes to produce a usable result, including corrections.
  3. Check what each tool can access, retain and export.
  4. Choose the simpler option if the outcome is effectively the same.

Recheck before you pay

AI tool features and prices change often. Verify current plan limits and cancellation terms on the provider’s official site before upgrading.
